We had a great time at the wedding shower that Joe, Mary Ann, Michelle, Jon, Kevin & Emily threw for us last weekend!
It was great to see so much of the family in one spot! Anna was excited to finally meet the whole crowd of Indy family. We were glad that so many people could attend. We had a blast with the “find your match” game and the Bride vs Groom game! (Yes, Anna probably is the better driver!) There was good food and fun to be had by all at Pat Flynn’s Irish Pub.
Anna and I really appreciate all of the gifts! I got to sneak a few of them in my luggage for the way home. (Security did take an extra look at my bag!) The rest had to go in Mom and Dad’s RV. They’ll be coming down sometime next month.
The next day was Father’s Day and a several of the Husers popped in for an afternoon of fun and food!
Oh and earlier that weekend, I finally got to visit the O’Gara’s pub! Mmmm….Guinness.
Popcorn? Maybe next time….
Anna and I finally got engaged!
She and her sister Alicia and cousins always get together and do something for the holidays! So her sister and I schemed to make it a surprise!
Alicia told Anna that they were going to get together and go out to eat, and thus to wear something nice. Her cousin Kathryn and Anna met at Alicia’s house. Mary Alice, the other (stateside) cousin, was flying in soon. Alicia said her husband Chip had arranged a limo to take them all to dinner to celebrate all being together!
Meanwhile I was meeting the limo driver, and sharing the plan with him and prearranging the car. So the limo went and picked them. Since they had some time before Mary Alice came into town, they went to get a drink at the nearest Starbucks. Little did Anna know, I was right next door. The limo dropped them off at Starbucks, and then circled the parking lot picking me up. Anna actually was trying to call me to tell me they got a limo (and she was thinking they may stop by my house to show me on the way to the airport).
When they started to get back in the car, Anna got in first. I was in the forward part of the back. It took her a few seconds to see I was there! She was ecstatic! We left Starbucks, and her sister and cousin took my car to pick up the arriving traveler.
Anna and I went downtown. We had a few stops near the apartments where we met. Each stop had a little surprise. The first stop at the old apartments had roses. The second stop was a park with lots of fountains where we had some sparkling cider. The third stop was at the park along the river where I bought a long box with me. We sat down at a picnic table and opened the box. There were several chocolates in the box. One of them looked a little different. It was a colored lid with a heart on it. When she picked that one, I got on one knee and proposed! And she said YES!!!
After that we went to a nice western cuisine restaurant downtown called Reata. We had a wonderful dinner complete with jalepeno macaroni & cheese!
Following dinner, we had to go back to her sister’s house to pick up our cars. When we walked inside, her whole family popped out from the back room along with some of our closest friends! They had a cake and some champagne. It was great to share the news with everyone! The evening went just as planned! Both of us were so happy!
